65_RedRoses Takes Home Three Awards at VIFF
At the 2009 Vancouver International Film Festival, UBC Film Production alumni Nimisha Mukerji and Philip Lyall became the recipients of three distinguished awards for their “heart wrenching and rewarding” (says Maryam Siddiqi of the National Post) documentary, 65_Red Roses. The film, which follows twenty-three year old Eva Markvoort and her struggle with cystic fibrosis, received the Most Popular Canadian Film Award and the NFB Most Popular Canadian Documentary Award. Additionally, Mukerji, along with her executive producer Gillian Lowry, were honored with the Women in Film and Television Vancouver Artistic Merit Award.
